March 2019- PhD student, Kaitlin Kosinski wins a travel award to attend the 23rd C. elegans International meeting in June. Congrats Kaitlin!
March 2019- high school student, Cassie Tian, from The Bronx School of Science became a NYCSEF finalist won third in her category (Molecular and Cell Bio) as well as a (monetary!) prize, the Ying Scholar Semifinalist, which is awarded to a project that if continued would develop a transformative technology or field of inquiry. Congratulations!
December 2018- Nicolas J. Palmisano who graduated with his PhD in 2016, received a prestigious American Cancer Society Fellowship to work with Dr. David Matus at Stonybrook University. Congratulations Nick!
November 2018- Lev Starikov, undergraduate student alum defends his dissertation and receives PhD from The Graduate Center at the City University of New York for his work with Dr. Andreas Kottman at the CUNY Medical School.
September 2018- Dr. Meléndez receives a United States – Israel Binational Science Foundation (BSF) award together with Dr. Sivan Henis-Korenblit at Bar Ilan University. This award will fund a project titled: “A novel Autophagy Checkpoint.” It combines the expertise of the Israeli lab in the field of proteostasis, and the American lab in the field of autophagy, to investigate the mechanisms for a compensatory response following autophagy dysfunction.
